In 2013 we published a series of four books which contained 12 techniques that each took 15 minutes or less and could remove a specific phobia. This was in response to the well-publicised trial we undertook for the Daily Mirror, who were testing the efficacy of different alternative therapies. The techniques featured in the books were a summary of some of techniques used during the trial.
The trial was overseen by Christine Morgan of the Daily Mirror. We were asked to become involved because CBT had been tried with the subject, Louise Moore, who had suffered with a chronic needle phobia for over 20 years. The CBT therapist originally asked to participate, withdrew from the trial after three, one-hour sessions because they felt that the phobia couldn't be treated in the ten sessions allocated.
The Daily Mirror had a deadline looming for the article so Christine asked us to step in and was taken aback when we suggested that the phobia could be treated in one session. We met Louise for the first time a few days later. A little under two hours after the session began, that lifelong needle phobia was gone. Totally gone. To date Louise has not had a phobic reaction to having an injection.
As a result of the publicity following the article we featured in a number of UK publications, and were also asked to appear on the BBC Today programme, Sky News and a number of local radio stations.
The series of phobia books are still available on Amazon and although well-received for their content, a criticism of the books was that the url links to the audio interventions were not available. As the audio was designed to be used in conjunction with the book, that was a problem as people were not receiving what they had expected. It's true that for a time the audio wasn’t available, so that criticism was justified.
We've rectified that error now, so everyone who bought the books and even those that didn't, has access to the audio. Those links are underneath the book images below along with a link to the book on Amazon which, if you are curious, lets you ‘look inside’ at its contents.
There's also the option to purchase a PDF version of the books, which many clients find useful as printing additional copies makes it's possible to repeat the exercises.
